My Favorite Thing to do with Vintage Porcelain Boxes

When I am out hunting, I never ever leave a porcelain decorative/trinket box behind. I love them. I have them all over my house and use them to hold toothpicks, ponytail holders and thumbtacks. But, my favorite thing to do with them is use them to hold matches and place them next to the candles I have around my house.

While they are beautiful as a replacement for a regular match box, they aren’t as functional. So, I like to add the abrasive strip on the side of a matchbox to the inside of the lid so you can easily strike the match and light the candle.

I am not sure if you are as picky as I am about matches but these are my favorite. They stay lit for a long time and are long enough that you don’t have to worry about burning your fingers when you light a candle.

It is truly as easy as cutting the strip and adding a dab of hot glue to the inside of the lid.

There you have it!

I like to add these porcelain match box holders with a candle and give out as hostess gifts, Christmas presents or housewarming presents!
